Accessible Parliament for All - Concept on Adaption of the Parliamentary Building in Tbilisi

On November 28, 2017, as part of the Global Legislative Openness Week, the Permanent Parliamentary Council on Open and Transparent Governance held a meeting titled Accessible Parliament for All and presented plans to adapt the Tbilisi building to the needs of the people with disabilities.

Freedom House: Georgia’s Score in Internet Freedom Ranking has Improved

On November 14, 2017 Freedom House published an annual report on Internet freedom around the world. Georgia obtained a score of 24 out of 100 and was assessed as “Free” in terms of Internet freedom. The country’s score improved by 1 point compared to 2016.

Public-Private Dialogue Quality Tracking in Georgia Award Ceremony of State Agency with the Highest Degree of Private Sector Involvement in their Draft Laws

On November 8, at Tbilisi Rooms Hotel - more than 40 representatives from public and private sector gathered at the presentation of the annual assessment report of the quality of dialogue between public and private sectors in Georgia. The event was hosted by IDFI and USAID program - Governing for Growth (G4G).

Sustainable Development Goal 16 was the Focus of an International Forum Held in Georgia

More than 150 representatives from 25 countries gathered in Tbilisi, Georgia, for an international forum titled - From Words to Action: Implementing SDG 16+ at the Local and National Level. From October 31 to November 2, 2017, the Forum discussed the best policy and practice in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the focus on SDG 16 – Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies.

Meeting with Media Representatives: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Global Agenda and Georgian Priorities

On October 27, 2017, at Impact Hub - Fabrika conference hall, the Embassy of Sweden in Georgia, UNDP Georgia, IDFI and Administration of the Government of Georgia (AoG) hosted an information meeting with Media representatives. The initiative is funded by the Government of Sweden.

“Future = You” - Georgia Unites Around Global Goals

Hundreds of people gathered in Rustavi on September 24, 2017 to attend the Global Goals Festival titled Future = You. One of the main components of the festival was the Straight Art Day, which was organized by UNDP, IDFI and Rustavi City Hall. The event was supported by the Swedish Government, United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and international organizations Edgeriders and Futuremakers.

IDFI at the E-Partnership Conference and Recommendations for Georgia

On October 4, 2017, IDFI representative and E-Governance Direction Lead Teona Turashvili attended  the E-Partnership Conference, held in Tallinn, and took part in the panel titled - What is the potential of ICT in increasing transparency of government processes and inclusiveness of civil society. The panel was also attended by civil society and government representatives from Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine.

10th International Conference of Information Commissioners

Manchester hosted the 10th International Conference of Information Commissioners, which focused on the problem of accountability and transparency of non-state public service providers. This is a significant problem in Georgia as well. One mechanism for solving this problem would be the adoption of a new Law on Freedom of Information.
