The Court stated that information about inspection and documents regarding inspection of the free industrial zones by the Revenue Service does not represent the tax secret; consequently, the Revenue Service is obliged to fully release the information.

IDFI Held a Public Lecture on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Telavi

On June 7, 2017, IDFI held a public lecture in Telavi titled UN Sustainable Development Goals: Global And Georgian Agenda. The event was organized in cooperation with the Administration of the Government of Georgia and UNDP Georgia, with the financial assistance of the Swedish Government and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

IDFI's Executive Director Selected as Member of the Open Government Partnership Steering Committee

IDFI's Executive Director Giorgi Kldiashvili was selected as a new member representing civil society in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee (SC) - the executive, decision-making body that develops, promotes and safeguards the values, principles and interests of OGP. The SC consists of 22 members - 11 from government and 11 from civil society. The standard term of a SC member is three years - with the possibility of a one-term renewal.

Parliament Approves Georgia’s Second Open Parliament Action Plan

On May 16, 2017, the Parliament of Georgia approved the Open Parliament Georgia Action Plan 2017-2018. The Action Plan consists of 25 Commitments that aim to increase accountability and transparency of parliamentary activities and ensure citizen participation in lawmaking processes.

Preserving the Prison Archive

IDFI expressed interested in the Ortachala Prison archive as early as in 2013. The organization requested clarification from National Archives of Georgia, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Corrections. The Ministry of Justice responded by forwarding the mail to the Ministry of Corrections, and National Archives stated that documentation was not kept in their system.
