How Russian disinformation tactics were utilised in the context of the 2008 5-day war

In the post-Soviet context, the first Chechen war (1994-1996) illustrated to the Russian state the importance that disinformation can play during times of conflict. Despite eventually overwhelming the Chechen forces in the successive conflict, Russia was said to have lost the ‘information war’ between the two sides.

On September 26, 2022, an introductory meeting and the first lecture of the 2022-2023 training program planned in cooperation with the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) and the University of Georgia (UG) - "Disinformation and Propaganda Research: History, Theories and Means of Debunking" - 2022-2023 were held.
