Biggest loss Georgia has suffered in 2013, when 10 soldieres have been killed and 137 damaged.

Presentation of Stalin's Lists

Presentation of the project Stalin’s Lists was held at the building of the National Library on October 8. David Usuphashvili, head of Parliament also attended the event. He gave a speech, stating that being aware about recent history is very important for every citizen of Georgia.

Demonstration to honor the memory of victims of 1937-38 Stalin repressions

On December 21, on the birthdate of Joseph Stalin, Institute for Development of Freedom of Information organized symbolic demonstration to honor the memory of victims of 1937-38 Stalin repressions. Demonstration was organized spontaneously and organizers exhibited photos, letters, memoirs and other materials of the victims of repressions on Rustaveli Avenue, in front of the former parliament building. Citizens, who attended the demonstration, read the lists of the represses persons.

Discussion of IDFI and DVV International on “Generation 1989”

On November 11, office of dvv International hosted the discussion Generation 1989. The meeting was a joint endeavor of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information and dvv International. Exhibition of Stalin Lists in Rustavi

On 14 February 2013 an exhibition prepared by IDFI (Institute for Development of Freedom of Information) was opened in the Rustavi Historical Museum - 1937-1938 Repressions: Stalins Lists on Georgia Unique documental and photo materials reflecting the tragic events of 1937-1938 Georgia were presented on the exhibit. Soganlughi - A Place of Mass Executions

One of the most painful pages of the history of our country is the “Great Terror” of 1937-1938. The repressions of 1930’s affected tens of thousands Georgians and barely was a family left not touched by this tragedy. The highest sentence for the convicts – death by shooting – was executed in several cities: Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and Sokhumi.
