On October 28-29th, the Open Government Partnership Global Summit Mexico took place in Mexico City, Mexico; While on October 27th, the OGP Civil Society Day was held within the above-mentioned OGP Summit.
On October 27th, the OGP Civil Society Day took place within the Open Government Partnership Global Summit Mexico 2015. The OGP Civil Society Day was traditionally held the day before the Summit to provide an informal opportunity for civil society actors involved in the OGP to connect and interact.
On October 27th, Georgia was awarded with the OGP Government Champions Award at the OGP (Open Government Partnership) Civil Society Day in Mexico City, Mexico, that was held within the OGP Global Summit Mexico 2015.
On October 28-29th, the Open Government Partnership Global Summit Mexico 2015 is scheduled to take place in Mexico City, Mexico.
The summit is expected to gather around 1,500 participants - including representatives from civil society organizations, businesses and governments. Among the attendees will be representatives of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI): Director - Giorgi Kldiashvili, Chairman - Levan Avalishvili and Project Coordinator - David Maisuradze.
On 12th of February, 2015, the Parliament of Georgia expressed readiness to join the Open Government Partnership (OGP). In particular, with the command of the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Inter-Factional Working Group of Parliament was composed by the members of Parliament from majority and minority factions. The Inter-Factional Group of Parliament of Georgia aims to back implementation of the principles of Open Parliament in Georgia, the integration of the Parliament in Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the creation and commitment of Action Plan of Open Parliament of Georgia.
An Inter-Factional Group and the Open Parliament Georgia Working Group were created within the framework of the project “Supporting Parliament of Georgia Involvement in Open Government Partnership Initiative”.
Open Government Partnership has designed and created the OGP Explorer software service that enables the OGP community of civil society, government and academia representatives and journalists to access the wealth of data the OGP has collected.
Open Government Partnership team has announced the OGP Government Champions Award. The Award is intended to showcase the ideal co-creation dynamic between the government and civil society while elaborating the National Action Plan. In addition, the award is thought to provide a high-level political visibility to the key actors who have played an immense role in upholding the OGP commitments.
On September 14-15, Meeting of the Open Government Partnership's Legislative Openness Working Group was held in the palace of the Parliament of Georgia in Tbilisi. On 25th of September, 2015 on its 70th anniversary, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development titled as the “Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.
