Workshop for the Librarians - OGP and Freedom of Information in Georgia

On April 3 National Parliamentary Library of Georgia hosted the workshop organized by IDFI in cooperation of with the Librarians Association of Georgia for the libraries from the regions of Georgia and Tbilisi. Director of IDFI Giorgi Kldiashvili and the Chairman of the organization Levan Avalishvili held presentations.

As a Result of OGP Recomendations Asset Declarations of heads of the state LTDs and NNLEs now Publicly Available

Within the framework of the international initiative “Open Government Partnership” NGOs have prepared recommendations for the government of Georgia and presented them on February 5, 2013. According to these recommendations, except the high officials, who have the obligation to publish the declarations, the following persons should publicize their incomes:

Asset Declarations of heads of the state LTDs and NNLEs now Publicly Available

According to these recommendations Georgian CSOs called on the following persons to publish their asset declarations: Heads and deputy heads of every Legal Entity of Public Law (LEPL) Deputy heads of sub-agencies Heads and deputy heads of departments and agencies of the ministries

US House Approves Bill to Improve FOIA Operations

By Freedominfo.org The US House Feb. 25 voted 410-0 to pass a bill (H.R. 1211) intended to improve the operation of the Freedom of Information Act. No similar bill exists in the Senate, but the Senate Judiciary Committee is planning to hold a hearing on FOIA on March 11.
