On November 18-20, The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), Center for Training and Consultancy (CTC) and Management Systems Development Center (MSDC) held three-day training on local self-government index for regional organizations.
Prosecutors and investigators from various territorial authorities of the Prosecution Service of Georgia participated in the training on gender discrimination and sexual harassment. The event was organized by IDFI with the support from the European Union, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia.
Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), with the financial support from the Open Society Institute – Budapest Foundation (OSI), presented a new website www.Open-Archives.org for evaluation of the openness of the state archives in the post-Soviet countries.
Access to public information in Georgia, especially in open and machine-readable form, remains a challenge. The basis for this is, to some extent, the absence of relevant legislative base and standards.
On September 20-22 international conference - Archival Studies, Source Studies – Trends and Challenges was held at the National Archives of Georgia.
As the Open Government Partnership is gaining momentum around the globe, more and more areas of policy are being incorporated through action plan commitments. Public procurement is one such area. While there very few star commitments related to public procurement to date, this could very well change.
Executive Director of the IDFI Giorgi Kldiashvili, Programs Director Levan Avalishvili and Archives and Soviet studies Direction Head, Anton Vatcharadze participated in the project of the Policy Studies Institute CEVRO.
For the third year, IDFI was declared as one of the most transparent think tank organizations in the world by Transparify.
On July 17-19, the fifth Summit of Open Government Partnership (OGP) took place in Tbilisi. The Summit was opened with the Parliamentary Day that was hosted by the Parliament of Georgia. On July 17, parallel to the Parliamentary Day, within the scope of the OGP Summit, Civil Society Day was held, where civil society representatives working on open governance gathered.
On July 2019, Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) organized a fishbowl discussion related to public procurement at the 5th Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia – July 17-18.
