Public-Private Dialogue Quality Tracking Mechanism

The Institute for Development of the Freedom of Information, with the support of the USAID Economic Governance Program, is implementing the project "Promoting PPD in Georgia through Monitoring and Awareness-Raising". Within the framework of the project, IDFI evaluates the quality of dialogue between the public and private sectors in the process of developing normative acts.

 

On April 18, 2021, a project launch event was held, during which the project team presented future plans and evaluation methodology to the audience. A video was prepared and published to increase the public’s awareness about the project.

 

The project will also evaluate normative acts adopted by local city councils. On January 31, 2022, an information meeting was held with the representatives of Zugdidi and Ozurgeti City Councils to inform them about the PPD quality assessment mechanism.

 

To raise public awareness about the importance of the public-private dialogue and the first phase of the PPD assessment, information banners were prepared and published.

 

On May 25, 2022, the presentation of the report "Assessment of the Quality of Public-Private Dialogue in Drafting Normative Acts - 2020-2021" was held. A video was prepared and published to introduce the results and increase public awareness about it.

 

On September 21, 2022, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) held an information meeting about the PPD Quality Tracking Mechanism with the representatives of Kutaisi City Council. The participants of the meeting received information about the planned evaluation in the second phase of the project, as well as the results of the assessment carried out in 2021.

 

On September 22, 2022, within the framework of the info session about Quality Tracking Mechanism, the project team held anothermeeting with the representatives of the Batumi City Council. The participants of the meeting received information about the goals of the project and the results of the assessment carried out in 2021.  In addition, on their part, the members of the Council spoke about their experiences in conducting dialogue with the society and the hindering factors of this process.

 

On October 25, 2022, an information meeting was held with representatives of the Gori City Council and City Hall. Within the framework of the meeting,  the team members of IDFI and the USAID Economic Governance Program introduced the results of the evaluation carried out in 2021 to the participants of the meeting. The members of the Gori Municipal Council and Gori City Hall spoke about the experience and challenges of the private sector's involvement in public discussions andadditionally discussed the normative acts that may be selected for the 2022 assessment.

 

On November 7, 2022, within the framework of information meetings of the project’s second phase, the last meeting was held with representatives of the Rustavi Municipality Council and City Hall. At the meeting, IDFI team members presented the results of the 2021 assessment to the meeting attendees. The representatives of the Rustavi City Council mentioned the topics of high interest to Rustavi population, while noting that the lack of coordination between the representative and executive bodies hinders solving society’s problems in a timely manner.
