Information session for the representatives of the Kutaisi City Council on the PPD Quality Tracking Mechanism

On September 21, 2022, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), within the framework of the project "Promoting Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) in Georgia through Monitoring and Awareness Raising ", held an information meeting with representatives of the Kutaisi City Council.

 

Irakli Shengelia, chairman of the Council, Mikheil Kukava, Head of the Economic and Social Policy Department of IDFI, and Nino Chokheli, Deputy Head of the USAID Economic Governance Program, welcomed the participants.

 

Members of the Council from the "Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia" and "United National Movement" parties and the staff of the Council participated in the meeting.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, IDFI representatives spoke about the findings and recommendations of the assessment for 2021. In the second part of the meeting, during the discussion, representatives of the City Council talked about the experience of cooperation with the private sector. The chairman of the Kutaisi City Council spoke about the Council’s plans, which are aimed at improving the process of public-private dialogue. The meeting participants discussed the normative acts that will be evaluated this year within the framework of the project.

 

IDFI will assess the quality of public-private dialogue in drafting normative acts in municipalities within the framework of the project. In addition, the project aims to raise the awareness of the representatives of the councils in the selected municipalities regarding the importance of PPD and the quality assessment mechanism.
