The order regulating standards for proactive release of public information has been approved

National Security Council has developed regulations for proactive disclosure of public information. Institution for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) has made significant commitment to the very process; with our organization NSC has signed the memorandum of understanding on June 24, 2014.

 

The new Order allows any interested person to request public information from the NSC concerning the Office’s activity; furthermore, it defines the legal frames of publishing information on the website of the NSC office.  

 

Accroding to the regulation, NSC takes responsibility to disclose information concerning salaries and other related expanduteres of its officials.

The regulation developed by NSC implements the highest standards of transparency and should become role model for other public institutions.

 

Decree of the Government of Georgia “about electronic request for and proactive disclosure of public information” has been into force since September 1, 2013. However, IDFI has studied websites of state institutions and revealed that the obligations taken under the decree have not been fulfilled as the published information is corresponding only minimum requirements of interested party. IDFI has prepared number of recommendations to encourage settling this issue, and to support compliance of disclosure of the public information with the legal provisions.
