On March 13, 2016 the video footage of Georgian politician's private life was uploaded on social network YouTube. The recorder and the distributor of the video footage is unknown, since the Prosecutor's Office is still investigating the matter.
On the 27th of October an amendment was made to the Georgian legislation, which highlights that public access will be restricted to the asset declarations of those high-ranking public officials the position of which has been classified as secret information according to the Law on State Secrecy.

Civil Service Reform - Expectations and Reality
On April 16, 2015, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) sent a freedom of information letter to the Georgian Revenue Service requesting information on whether the Revenue Service had conducted inspections of Free Industrial Zones (FIZ) in the country. IDFI also requested the reports or protocols prepared by the Revenue Service as a result of these inspections.

Access to court decisions in Georgia has recently deteriorated. Even different branches of the judiciary cannot agree on the rules for disclosing these decisions. The following is IDFI’s attempt to examine international best practice in this regard, and develop recommendations for Georgia.
On March 19, participant organizations of the This Affects You campaign held a demonstration. The gathered citizens, and representatives of the civil society and media protested the disclosure of recordings depicting private life by holding a procession from Tbilisi Concert Hall to the Government Chancellery.
The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), in partnership with the University of Bremen and with the financial support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany implemented the project “Strategic Plan Georgia 2020 – Strengthening Public Involvement” between July 10, 2015 and February 10, 2016.
