Discussion on E-Governance and E-Transparency in Georgia was carried out by the “Institute for development of Freedom of Information” (IDFI). The meeting was conducted within the framework of the joint project of Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg for Good Governance and German Council on Foreign Relations of Heinrich Boell Foundation.
The project main goals are to increase the qualification of young leaders from Eastern Partnership Countries and Turkey and facilitate implementation of new projects.
Marika Kechakmadze was participated in this project as a representative of IDFI working on a research project related to e-engagement. The interim meeting in Georgia, on March 1-4 was initiated by Georgian Participants.
The discussion on development of e-governance and e-democracy was initiated by the IDFI and the meeting was held on March 2nd at the office of Open Society Georgia Foundation.
The director of IDFI Mr. Giorgi Kldiashvili made the audience acquainted with trends of development of freedom of information, talked about current projects, issues about access to public information, informational transparency of official web-pages of public authorities and e-governance monitoring; also he talked about implementation of e-democracy in Georgia, problems and future perspectives connected to the above mentioned issues.
Data Exchange Agency, Ministry of Justice of Georgia together with the Institute for development of Freedom of information was participated in the discussion. The director of Data Exchange Agency Mr. Irakli Gvenetadze and head of legal division Mrs. Nata Goderdzishvili made audience acquainted with implemented e-services and elaborated law projects related to e-governance and information security.
After the presentations, speakers answered the questions of audience.
The meeting was attended by former vice president of European Commission and the director of Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg for Good Governance - Günter Verheugen, a representative of German Council on Foreign Relations and head of the project Marie-Lena May and Robert Bosch Foundation projects director - Markus Lux, also participants from Eastern Partnership Countries and Turkey.
