Permanent Parliamentary Council on Open Governance and its Consultative Group held workshop during July 20-22. In the framework of the meeting the members of the council and the consultative group discussed initiatives and recommendations submitted for the Open Parliament Georgia Action Plan for 2020-2021.
The Commemoration Day of the Victims of Repressions, 22 July was established by the decree of the President of Georgia in 2002. On the same day in 1937, a great Georgian poet, Paolo Iashvili committed suicide in the building of the Writers’ Alliance.
On July 22, 2020 “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI)” in collaboration with “Human Rights Education and Monitoring (EMC)” and “Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC)”, held the closing ceremony of the EU-funded project “Facilitating Implementation of Reforms in the Judiciary (FAIR)”.
Georgia’s scores in terms of e-government and e-participation have slightly improved in the UN E-Government Survey 2020. Although the country has dropped by 5 positions in the e-government ranking, it advanced by 7 positions in the e-participation ranking.
The recent developments in Georgia have once again attracted public attention to the topic of animal care and welfare in Georgia. Existing problems of high complexity, which require immediate action have once again come to the surface.
In Russia, the native Ural district of Boris Yeltsin, city of Yekaterinburg, since 2015, there has been a cultural and educational center named after him ("Yeltsin Center"). The Boris Yeltsin Museum occupies the main part of the center, as well as various departments, the most important of which is the Boris Yeltsin Archive. 11 funds of this archive are available online - it is possible to view the documents and download their copies.
On July 17-19, 15 trainees participated in a two-day practical training organized by the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI). Participants explored and delved into the monitoring mechanisms of government activities.
