Memorandum of understanding was signed between International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), Public Service Development Agency (PSDA), Georgian Libraries Association (GLA), and Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) in 2014.
Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Culture of Georgia holds discussions on draft amendments to the Georgian “Law on Broadcasting”. According to the initiated amendments, program frame of the content, which is originally produced in a foreign language, should not exceed 10% quota. On September 2nd, 2014, at the parliament of Georgia, draft amendments to the “Law on Broadcasting" has been discussed. Together with a draft bill "On broadcasting", changes are made to the draft bill "On the state language". The mentioned amendments are planned to enter into force from January 1st, 2015.
The Georgian government approved the second Open Government Partnership Action Plan (OGP) on its September 5th session. 16 state bodies have undertaken 27 commitments to be fulfilled in 2012-2015. The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) has been actively engaged in the development process of the plan.
On Tuesday, September 2nd, a meeting was held between IDFI and the representative of EBRD - Tauno Aijala. The purpose of the meeting was sharing Finnish experience and recommendations concerning digital switchover process.
