Award Ceremony of the Participants of the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption

On September 30, 2021, the award ceremony of the participants of the Educational Certification Program in Fighting Corruption for the years of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 was held. During the event, the program participants who managed to complete the teaching modules and academic courses of the Program, were awarded with Certificates. At the same time, during the ceremony, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) and Ilia State University summarized the results of the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years. Participants of the meeting had the opportunity to get information about the program progress, development, training modules and academic courses.

 

The meeting was opened by the executive director of IDFI - Giorgi Kldiashvili, who thanked Ilia State University for hosting the program in the university academic space and informed the participants about the results achieved in the program as well as future plans. Rector of Ilia State University - Giga Zedania and Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences - Giorgi Gvalia also took part in the opening of the meeting.

 

It should be noted that a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Ilia State University and IDFI on the day of the meeting. The memorandum has been signed for the third time between the two organizations. The memorandum facilitates various issues related to the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption.

 

Davit Maisuradze, the Manager of the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption explained the activities implemented and planned within the project, reviewed the training modules, academic courses and open lectures held within the project from 2019 until Today. It should be mentioned that in 2019-2020, eight professional teaching modules were developed within the program, which for the 2020-2021 academic year were transformed into four academic courses of the School of Arts and Sciences of the Ilia State University. Davit Maisuradze also informed the participants about the additional opportunities created by the involvement in the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption. In particular, program participants will have the opportunity to participate in competitions announced by IDFI and benefit from membership in the International Academic Anti-Corruption Network (EAACN).

 

Davit Maisuradze also presented the website of the Anti-corruption Hub at the meeting. The Anti-Corruption Hub website is an electronic platform that will enable people interested in fighting corruption to unite, share information with each other, and jointly organize activities. At the same time, through the webpage, those interested will be able to get acquainted with the online educational programs offered by Hub and, if they successfully pass the testing for each online course, will receive an electronic certificate confirming the completion of the course. The Anti-Corruption Hub webpage was created under the Core Support grant from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

 

After the presentation of the project results and the Anti-corruption Hub webpage, the graduation ceremony for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 was held, where participants were awarded with certificates.

 

The Certification Program in Fighting Corruption is implemented by the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) in cooperation with the Ilia State University with financial support from the Foundation to Promote Open Society (FPOS).
