OGP Steering Committee Suspended Georgia’s Membership in OGP

According to the resolution of the OGP Steering Committee published on October 14, considering the events that have developed in the country since the publication of Stage One Recommendations on May 6, 2024 — including the Law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” adopted on June 3, 2024, and other laws restricting fundamental rights and civic space — fulfilling the recommendations before the stipulated deadline of November 6, 2024, is no longer viable. This means that Georgia’s OGP membership will be temporarily suspended.

Statistics of Migration of Georgian Citizens

According to Geostat, over the past ten years (2014-2023), 815,608 Georgian citizens emigrated from the country, while the number of returning citizens was lower by 265 thousand - 550,919 Georgian citizens.

Georgia in the UN E-Government Survey – Review of 2024 Results

In the 2024 United Nations e-Government Survey, Georgia showed slight improvements in its e-government and e-participation development scores. However, its rankings in both indexes declined, with the country dropping nine places in the e-government index and five places in e-participation. When compared to global trends and regional counterparts, Georgia's progress in this area, particularly in providing online services, appears to be slow.

Companies Founded in Georgia by Russian Citizens - Links and Registration Features

The number of Russian companies in Georgia has reached a historical peak. The increase in the number of companies founded by Russian citizens began after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war and the arrival of Russian migrants in Georgia. In many cases, large Russian companies enter the Georgian economy through offshore or intermediary companies, making it difficult to determine who exactly is behind a specific company.
