The purpose of the article is to discuss the case law of the European Court of Human Rights(ECHR) regarding the right of access to public information. The article reflects a changing approach of the ECHR for recognizing the right of access to public information for years and contains analysis of the standards established by the Court, which the Members of the Council of Europe, including Georgia, should take into account in improving legislation and its implementation in practice.
