TOL - ​​Transitions Online

Transitions Online is a non-governmental nonprofit organization in Czech Republic, which has been dedicated to furthering media freedom and raising journalistic standards in the post-communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the former Soviet Union since 1999. In pursuit of its mission, TOL undertakes the interrelated activities of online publishing and journalism training.

Strategic Analysis Think Tank

Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) became a local partner of the Slovakia-based independent consulting company and think-tank - Strategic Analysis. The parties signed a memorandum of partnership and expressed their willingness to jointly work on future projects concerning the European Neighborhood and South Caucasus. Strategic Analysis team combines over ten years of experience working and networking across the region.

The Transition Promotion Program

The Transition Promotion Program is a democracy assistance financial instrument of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic established in 2005. This program is aimed at support to democracy and human rights, using the Czech Republic’s experience with the social transition and democratization of the country.

"International Memorial"

International Memorial was established in 1992. Academician Andrei Sakharov was one of the founders of the society and its first honorary chairman. The organization studies political repressions in the former Soviet Union and modern Russia, and promotes the moral and legal rehabilitation of victims of political repressions. In 2022, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation decided to liquidate International Memorial. On October 7, 2022, the Nobel Committee awarded Memorial the Peace Prize.

Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA Archive)

The archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs combines the archives of the former State Security Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Georgian SSR. "Stalinist lists from Georgia" is the first electronic database in Georgia that contains brief biographical information about the victims of the repressions of 1937-38. The project was implemented by the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

Centre for Research of Liberation Movement

The Center for the Study of the Ukrainian Liberation Movement is a non-governmental organization founded in 2002 that studies the Ukrainian liberation movements of the 20th century. It explores the processes of overcoming the memory and consequences of the totalitarian past in the former Soviet Union and the countries of the socialist bloc. The mission of the Centre is to make the past accessible.

The Institute of National Remembrance

The Institute of National Remembrance was established in 1998 by the Polish government. The organization studies totalitarianism, Nazi and communist regimes, identifies locations of mass shootings and burials of victims of repression, and conducts archival research. In 2022, with the help of six archaeologists from the Polish Institute of National Remembrance, who came to Georgia at the invitation of IDFI, the mass grave of the victims of the "Great Terror" was discovered in Adjara.

Investigative Media Lab Georgia

On May 2, 2022, the University of Georgia (UG) held the presentation of the Investigative Media Lab. The Media Lab will include practical courses taught at the Faculty of Journalism of the University of Georgia. The lab offers academic courses, short-term investigative practical projects, public lectures, and training in investigative journalism and open-source investigation methods for students of the Laboratory and anyone interested in the program. IDFI will actively collaborate with the Investigative Media Lab. Anton Vatcharadze, Head of Memory and Disinformation Studies, and Nino Gozalishvili, Researcher, will be invited as lecturers in the Media Lab. The courses taught by them within the framework of the Certification and University Program will be integrated into the Media Lab Program.

The University of Georgia

On June 10, 2021, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) and the University of Georgia. The memorandum aims to establish a partnership between the parties to jointly develop academic courses on studying and combating disinformation and propaganda. These courses will be offered within the University of Georgia's School of Social Sciences. The memorandum envisions the expansion and continuous development of this program. In addition to University of Georgia students, the academic courses will be available to students from other universities, civil servants, and representatives from the business and non-governmental sectors. Participants will be selected through a special competition. The academic courses will be conducted at the University of Georgia in a distance learning or mixed learning format.

Post Bellum

Post Bellum is a non-governmental nonprofit organization that documents the memories of witnesses of significant historical phenomena of the 20th century and aims to share these stories with the broader public. It was founded in 2001 by a group of journalists and historians who believe that witnesses should have the opportunity to tell their stories and that these stories should be accessible to everyone.
