On June 23, 2022, the European Council recognized the European perspective of Georgia. However, it determined the implementation of various democratic reforms as a prerequisite for granting the candidate status.
From February 22nd to 24th, 2023, IDFI hosted a public lecture titled "Soviet Occupation and Its Impact on Georgia's Memory", as well as a screening of the film "Cemetery of the Shot Dead in Batumi" by Radio Liberty. These events were held as part of the week commemorating the Soviet occupation.

On February 10, the Parliament of Georgia adopted a new law “On Public Procurement” in the third hearing.
The project presentation, titled "Discover Gori," took place on February 14, 2023, at the Giorgi Eristavi Drama Theater in Gori.
The So-called Law on Foreign Agents is incompatible with the European Union legal system and values. There is no legislation in any country of the EU that assigns the status of "foreign agent" to non-governmental organizations.
From February 8th to 11th, the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) joined the international conference "Necropolis of Communist Terror" in Tallinn, organized by the Institute of Historical Memory of Estonia and the “Saint Petersburg Memorial Research and Information Centre/Joffe Foundation”.
On February 1-3, a series of workshops were held with the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia, the Permanent Parliamentary Gender Equality Council, the Public Defender's Office of Georgia and the Parliamentary Budget Office to develop the gender index of the state budget.
From January 25-28, 2023, events celebrating the First Republic of Georgia took place in France, initiated by the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) in partnership with the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia and the Embassy of Georgia in France.
