Emergency Joint Statement by NGOs

The full responsibility for this decision lies with Bidzina Ivanishvili, the chairperson of the Georgian Dream party and the country’s informal ruler. In an effort to cling to power and maintain a state capture, Bidzina Ivanishvili is seemingly prepared to make use of an unfair election system to deprive voters of the opportunity to participate in the governance of the country and to unjustly seize parliamentary mandates.

IDFI Calls for Optimization of State vehicle Use

IDFI has been actively observing the challenges of the bureaucratic system in Georgia over the years.Monitoring results show that the maintenance and purchase of new state vehicles continues to involve considerable expenses, pointing to a serious challenge and the necessity by the government to create a more efficient system of state vehicle management.

On May 10, 2019, the High Council of Justice (HCoJ) commenced the process of selection of Supreme Court judicial candidates to be nominated to the Parliament of Georgia. The process lasted for 4 months and was finalized on September 4, 2019.

Statement of NGOs on the Ongoing Staff Changes in Rustavi 2 TV

We, the undersigned organizations, want to express our concern about the staff changes in Rustavi 2 TV that were announced and carried out by its new owner. Paata Salia, the new General-Director of Rustavi 2 TV, dismissed Nodar Meladze, the Head of TV's News Department, and TV anchor Nanuka Zhorzholiani. Moreover, Eka Kvesitadze, Giorgi Gabunia and Giorgi Laperashvili, the Deputy General-Director, will be fired as soon as they return from vacation.
