Vice-Mayoral candidate of the united opposition in Kutaisi, a member of the “Girchi - More Freedom” party was detained. Footage of the detention was spread through the media and social networks: at the time of the detention, Imeda Kldiashvili remains in his vehicle and has no contact with law enforcement. Before detention, the law enforcement officers open the door by force and called on the politician to obey. What was the demand that the Kldiashvili should have obeyed, is not clear from the footage.
The reasons behind the detention are still unknown.
We call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia to immediately make a proper explanation regarding the detention of Imeda Kldiashvili.
