IDFIs comments about the draft – Georgian law on Information Security

 “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information” considers that review of the legislation initiative is timely and justified. We think that risks in increasing pace of using and developing of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) have to be properly reflected to the Georgian legislation. But despite our positive attitude to the initiative, draft law raises many questions and in our opinion it needs improvement, in particular, doubtful provisions of the draft law should be categorized into two major issues:


1.    New regulatory norms regarding to the access to public information;
2.    Imposing additional mechanisms of state control over private sector
