Dear Mr. Secretary of the National Security Council of Georgia:

First of all we would like to inform You about our organization. “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information” is a non-governmental, non-commercial organization. The activity of the Institute is targeted at the aiding of availability of public information in Georgia, the improvement of openness and transparency of the government and the system of good governance in Georgia in general via the development of government web resources.

It must be noted that the official web page of the National Security Council of Georgia does not operate in recent years, the reason due to which the population of Georgia and the society concerned lack the possibility of followingthe activity of such an important state body. Owing to the fact that the National Security Council represents the important body in issues concerning state stability and law and order, national security policy, decision-making on strategic questions of the organization of military construction and defence of the state, the “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information” wishes to address You with request to come to a decision to expedite the creation and placement in the Internet of official web page of the National Security Council of Georgia.

First and foremost, the abovementioned decision shall enhance the accountability of the Council towards the population, shall make more transparent its activities in parts which are not the subject to classification, which also can be deemed as a step forward in the direction of development of the field of e-Transparency and the improvement of the rate of public information openness in Georgia.

The participation of representatives of mass media, non-governmental organizations and interested members of the society of Georgia would be welcomed in the process of creation of the official web page of the National Security Council of Georgia. This will enable the Security Council to create the Internet information resource oriented to the public engagement with its activities.
