On June 25, with using Zoom platform, first meeting of the Consultative Group of the Open Governance Council of the Supreme Council of Ajara (SCA) Autonomous Republic was held. In the introductory part of the meeting, Giorgi Kldiashvili, Director of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) and the Member of OGP Steering Committee, addressed the members of the Consultative Group and shared the experience on implementing the OGP principles in Georgia. UNDP Project Officer, Irine Urushadze, presented the information regarding the joint project of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) "Consolidating Parliamentary Democracy in Georgia." Within the scopes of the mentioned project, and based on the close cooperation with the IDFI, the Open Governance Principles are being promoted at the Parliament of Georgia and the Supreme Council of Ajara (SCA).
During the meeting, the Head of the Open Governance Direction of IDFI, Davit Maisuradze, introduced the OGP principles, challenges and the elaboration and implementation mechanism of the commitments of the OGP action plan based on the collaboration with the state agencies. The members of the Consultative Group agreed on the joint working scheme.
The Consultative Group consists of the International Organizations and local civil society organizations working in Ajara. The Consultative Group will present the proposals and recommendations to the Open Governance Council of the Supreme Council of the Ajara Autonomous Republic during the elaboration of the Action Plan, and will also support the Open Governance Council in efficient implementation of the Action Plan.
