The Process of the Reformation of the Labor Legislation

News 26 March 2013

The draft law about the changes to be implemented in the organic law “the Labor Code of Georgia” that was created by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia was presented to the Parliament of Georgia. Before presenting it to the Parliament, the labor unions, unions of employers, representatives of the civil sector or the users of www.matsne.gov.ge had the opportunity to express their ideas or suggestions, a part of which was taken into consideration during the development of the draft law. We would like to remind you that IDFI replied to the first and second drafts of the law as soon as they were published and presented its justified opinion on the topic of the necessity to regulate the issue of getting compensation instead of an unused leave of absence for the dismissed employees.

It should be noted that a part of our recommendations on the abovementioned issue was taken into consideration in the draft law presented to the Parliament. The draft of the normative act will be likely discussed on 3-5th April on the plenary session of the Parliament.

We welcome the engagement of the representatives of the civil society in the process of the reformation of the labor legislation and the transparency of the mentioned process.
