On April 23, IDFI held a working meeting with the staff of the Supreme Council of Ajara on issues related to the submission and consideration of the petition.

Implementation of written and electronic petition is the 4th commitment envisaged in the 2020-2021 Open Governance Action Plan of the Supreme Council of Ajara.The opportunity for submitting the written petition to the Supreme Council of Ajara shall be in force from May 1, 2021.

The mentioned meeting was attended by the representative of the Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules of the Parliament of Georgia, who shared with the Supreme Council the experience of the Parliament of Georgia regarding the procedure for submitting and discussing a written and electronic petition.

The working meeting was held within the scopes of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project - "Consolidating Parliamentary Democracy in Georgia." The project is closely cooperating with the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) to promote Open Governance Principles in the work of the Parliament of Georgia and the Supreme Council of Ajara (SCA).
