Within the Framework of the Anti-corruption Week, Tina Khidasheli Held a Lecture on Anti-corruption Commissions

Within the framework of the Anti-corruption Week - on December 12, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) in cooperation with Ilia State University held an open lecture for the participants of the Master's level of the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption.

 

The invited lecturer - Mrs. Tina Khidasheli discussed interactively the internationally recognized Anti-corruption Commissions, which make a significant contribution to the process of fighting corruption. During the lecture, Mrs. Khidasheli reviewed several forms of established Anti-corruption Commissions and their main functional differences. During the lecture, as a result of the effective functioning of the Anti-corruption Commissions, Mrs.Tina also discussed successful cases that are great illustrations of eliminating corruption risks and preventing possible misconduct of local authorities.

 

Mrs. Khidasheli together with participants of the course analyzed the on-going process of creating the Anti-corruption Bureau in Georgia that will develop proposals regarding the determination of the general policy of the fight against corruption and submits them to the Parliament, however Anti-corruption bureau will not have investigative functions according to the draft law adopted by the Parliament in the first hearing. 

 

Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) started implementing the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption in 2019 in cooperation with Ilia State University. For three years, the program was financially supported by the Open Society Foundations within the framework of the project "Building Sustainable Human Capacity in Fighting Corruption”. Currently, the program is financially supported by The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) within the framework of organizational support.
