  The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI)  with the support from United Nations Development Program’s (UNDP) and government of Sweden calls students to submit essays on the subject of Sustainable Development Goals and Georgia.   The purpose of this competition is to promote the Sustainable Development Goals in Georgia and raise awareness about their importance.   What are Sustainable Development Goals?   On September 25, 2015, 193 UN member states agreed on the Sustainable Development Agenda document: “Transformation of our World - 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The aim of Sustainable Development Goals is to continue the work started by Millennium Development Goals.   Georgia was one of the first states that supported the adoption of UN Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 and started to implement them into national political agenda. Sustainable Development Agenda contains 17 goals and 169 targets.     To receive more information about this competition, an information meeting will be held on May 2, 2017, 17:00 at conference room of restaurant Lolita  (#7 Chovelidze str., III Floor). To participate in the meeting, please register no later than April 26, 2017.   Who can participate in the competition?   Any undergraduate or graduate student in Georgia can participate in this competition.        How to participate in the competition?   1. The essay must concentrate on only one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals;   2. One participant may submit multiple essays on different Goals;    3. At the end of an essay, please indicate your first name, last name, contact information (e-mail and phone number) and the name of the educational institution you are enrolled in;   4. Technical requirements: the text should be in Georgian, font – Sylfaen, size – 12, spacing – 1.5, no more than 1,000 words. Please do NOT send essays in PDF. The Word document must include the name of the participant in its title;   5. In case of plagiarism, the organizers reserve the right to remove the participant from the competition;   6. Deadline for submission is May 21, 2017;    7. Please send your essay/s to contest@idfi.ge;   8. The e-mail subject line must be - Essay Competition.       Evaluation Criteria    - Relevance and original analysis of the issue;   - Logical reasoning;   - Analysis and argumentation;   - The structure of the essay (introduction, main body, conclusion);   - Following academic writing standards.     Awards   - First place winner will receive a GEL 1,000 gift card for a technology store, the second and third place holders will be awarded with special gifts at the Sustainable Development Goals international forum.    - Winners will be selected by representatives from UNDP and IDFI. To participate in the meeting, please register no later than April 26, 2017.      Who can participate in the competition?   - Any interested person, professionals and non-professionals alike   - Participants are not restricted based on age or residence      How to participate in competition?   1. Participants must send at least one work: photo, poster, or graffiti (sketch of graffiti, indicating its exact final)    2. It is possible to send more than one work, regardless of category.   3. Each work must deal with only one Sustainable Development Goal. Works that deal with two or more goals will not be accepted.   4. No restrictions on content apply; however, a work should be easily understandable to wide audience.    5. A work must not contain offensive or violent elements.   6. In case of plagiarism, the organizers reserve the right to remove the participant from this competition.   7. The submitted visualization must be high in resolution. Files should be sent in JPG or PDF formats and their size must not exceed 5 MB.     Deadline for submission is May 21, 2017. In the e-mail, please indicate your first name, last name, age, contact information (e-mail and phone number) and place of residence (city, municipality). In case of a graffiti sketch, please indicate its exact final parameters. The e-mail subject line must be - competition photo, competition poster or graffiti.      By sending your works to this competition, you agree that:    - You own copyright on the submitted material and it is created by you;   - In case of graffiti, you are able to transfer it to a wall in the dimensions you have indicated;    - Every person depicted on the submitted material gives you permission to use the work and have it published;    - You give organizers the right to use your work according to their views on their website, exhibitions, and publications or in any other material (author being indicated).       IDFI is not allowed to use the submitted material for commercial purposes.     Evaluation Criteria    - Relevance to the chosen Sustainable Development Goal   - Innovative depiction of an issue via photo, poster or graffiti (graffiti sketch)     - Quality of submitted work   - Compositional display of work   - Color coordination     Awards   - The winner will be selected by representatives from UNDP and IDFI.   - One winner will be selected in each category (photo, poster, graffiti) and will be rewarded with GEL 1,000 gift card for a technology store.   - The winners will be awarded during the Sustainable Development Goals international forum.   - 20 best visualizations (10 photos, 10 graffiti) with authors’ name and picture will be published on the IDFI web and Facebook page.   The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) within the framework of its project “Supporting the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Georgia” has launched a competition of ideas for and later production of an informative social video clip. Theme: Sustainable Development Goals and Georgia.   The project is supported by United Nations Development Program’s (UNDP) Governance Reform Fund (GRF), with financial assistance of the Swedish government and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).   The purpose of the video clip is to raise awareness about Sustainable Development Goals in Georgia and the importance of their implementation.    What are Sustainable Development Goals?   On September 25, 2015, 193 UN member states agreed on the Sustainable Development Agenda document: “Transformation of our World - 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Sustainable Development Agenda contains 17 goals and 169 targets.     Who can participate in the competition?   Qualified organizations and individuals with relevant experience can participate in the competition.    Requirements:    1. The video must qualify as social video.   2. The video must maintain technical requirements necessary to broadcast on national television.    3. The duration must be no longer than 1 minute.    4. The video must not contain violence.   5. The video must be completed in three weeks after results of the competition are known.    6. The author of the video clip is required to take into consideration the demands of project experts and make any necessary changes.    7. All decisions about and changes in video clip should be agreed with the project team in written form.   8. Labeling video as social video clip and its broadcast on national television is an obligation of the project team and not the author.        Deadlines and Procedures    The deadline for application is April 18, 2017.    Participants must provide:    - Information about the applicant (in case of an individual, please send CV) indicating experience in producing informational, social video clips and ads.      - The idea for a video clip (Word document file), which clearly describes the content and the main massages of the video clip, shot by shot (a script).    - Budget   - At least 3 examples of previously created video clips.    All of the above must be sent to: contest@idfi.ge. In the subject line please indicate - Competition for Social Video Clip.     Evaluation Criteria:   - The script must be in accordance with the goals of the competition;    - Information about Sustainable Development Goals must be easy to understand and remember for a wide audience;    - Innovative outlook;   - Creativity;   - Small timeframe for production;   - Past experience.
