IDFI’s Recommendations for the 2021-2022 Open Government Georgia Action Plan

Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), as the member of the Open Governance Inter-Agency Coordination Council, and together with the other representatives of the civil society, presented the draft version of commitments to the Secretariat of the Open Governance Inter-Agency Coordination Council. These commitments were distributed to the relevant state agencies.

IDFI became member of the international platform – the Sites of Conscience

Founded in 1999, the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience (“the Coalition”) is the only worldwide network of Sites of Conscience. With over 275 members in 65 countries. The coalition builds the capacity of these vital institutions through grants, networking, training, transitional justice mechanisms and advocacy.

Openness of State Archives and Memory Studies - Conference Theses

On 5-6 December 2019, with the financial support of the Open Society Institute – Budapest Foundation, the Institute for Development of Freedom of information (IDFI) held a conference on the Openness of State Archives and Memory Studies in the Former Soviet and Eastern Bloc Countries in Tbilisi. Up to 30 researchers, historians, and the representatives of civil society from all over the world participated in the conference.

Pandemics and Corruption Risks

Due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, state of emergency was declared in Georgia on March 21, 2020.  According to the Article 1 of the presidential decree, the purpose of the state of emergency is to react accordingly on the pandemic acknowledged by the World Health Organization, to secure the public health in democratic society, reduce the risks related to the health and lives of population and manage the situation.
