Organizations Exempt from the Environmental Impact Assessment (2010-2013)

According to the Law of Georgia on Environmental Impact Permit, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) may be unrestricted the activity which needs timely decision on launching the general State’s interests. This procedure itself implies from the public discussions. As regulated, the decision on the application of such performing activity is made by the Special Environmental Impact Assessment Council. The Minister of Environment submits the appropriate suggestions, developed by the Council to the Government for its approval

IDFI received the list of organizations that are unrestricted from the Environmental Impact Assessment in 2010-2013 from the Ministry of Environmental and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia along with the copies of the applications of the mentioned organizations requesting the permit for the Environmental Impact Assessment, submitted to the Ministry

Based on the received set of documents, in 2010-2013, in total, 24 projects were unrestricted from the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and majority of the Project (12 projects) were given permission in 2012, the projects which had been producing asphalt and explosive substances.
