On July 14, an online meeting was held between the Permanent Parliamentary Council on Open Governance and the Open Governance Council of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara (SCA). The purpose of the meeting was sharing experiences towards the involvement of legislatures in Open Government Partnership. 

Members of the Parliament of Georgia Kakha Kuchava and Giorgi Kakhiani talked about parliamentary openness, experience of the Permanent Parliamentary Council on Open Governance and discussed its functions, challenges, action plans as well as report drafting process.

Nino Makashvili, representative of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Council, shared experience with the members of the Open Governance Council and the Organizational Department of the SCA towards the planning and organizing council activities and concerning stakeholder engagement in the process.

The meeting was attended by the SCA Open Governance Council member MPs and Davit Gabaidze, Chairman of the SCA. Hereby, representatives of the Secretariat of the Permanent Parliamentary Council, the office and the departments (Organizational and Main Chancellery) of the SCA, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) took part in the meeting.

Open Governance Council of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara is supported by a joint project of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) "Consolidating Parliamentary Democracy in Georgia." The project is closely cooperating  with the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) to promote Open Governance Principles at the Parliament of Georgia and the Supreme Council of Ajara (SCA).
