On July 3, 2024, the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) conducted the first online training for young professionals interested in the competition within the framework of the policy document competition. In the first part of the online training, the participants got acquainted with detailed information about the requirements of the competition: for whom the competition is intended, on what issues it is possible to prepare a policy document, what are the content and technical requirements of the preparation document, as well as evaluation criteria. In addition to the general requirements, applicants received advice on how to select a research topic for a policy document.

The second part of the online training was devoted to the main types, objectives, structure and components of policy documents. Reviewing the structure and key characteristics of policy documents will help contestants prepare high-quality analytical papers.

The policy document competition is announced with the support of the USAID National Governance Program, within the framework of the project "Empowering Youth for Evidence-Based Policy-Making". It aims is to empower youth, students, and young professionals to become active contributors to the policymaking process through capacity building, sharing practical experience/best practices, and providing them a wide-range of opportunities to prepare and communicate evidence-based analyses and recommendations.
