On may 21, from 11am till 2pm, at “Tbilisi Mariot” IDFI will hold a presentation concerning Georgia’s Digital Broadcasting Switchover Strategy. The presentation will host representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia as well as experts from other executive as well as legislative bodies.
According to the decision of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), digitalization process should be accomplished till June 17, 2015 in Georgia; by the set date analog broadcasting should be switched off in the country. It is ceucial to take concrete steps towards fulfilling this obligation.
The proposed strategy comprises all the key issues, necessary for successful implementation of digital television in Georgia: technical parameters, broadcast licensing, government subsidy policy, regulation and competition policy, business model, informational campaign and etc.
The presentation will be followed by the discussions between the representatives of governmental bodies and NGOs; the experts will get the opportunity to sum up their opinions concerning various challenges connected to the process.
