A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information” and “The Society for Immortalizing and Supporting Victims of the Soviet Times Repressions “Memorial” of Georgia.
The Institute works on digitalizing the archive materials about victims of the Soviet period repressions which was collected and are held by the society “Memorial”.
Within the framework of the Memorandum it is planned to carry out different joint scientific, research, cultural and educational projects and conduct conferences, meetings and other events.
The cooperation is of profound significance for studying the totalitarian past of Georgia and immortalizing and supporting victims of the Soviet times state repressions.
Currently the society “Memorial” is actively involved in the project of the Institute “Stalin’s Lists on Georgia”. Within the framework of the project it is planned to collect information about those victims of political repressions which were judged by the direct signatures of Stalin and with the consent of other members of Politburo in 1937-1938.
The photo and documental materials collected by the society “Memorial” will be used in the project.
