The topic of the Forum is Accelerating Decentralization: Best Practices and Innovative Solutions. The event aims to explore global trends, good practices, needs for Eastern European countries, and innovative methods to deal with their challenges in developing democratic principles and implementing decentralization reforms at the local level.

The event intends to do this by engaging local and international experts and all relevant stakeholders from various sectors around several key-related issues: decentralization reform, transparency and accountability of local municipalities, public participation in local decision-making processes, digitalization of municipalities, and local service delivery. 

The conference will feature the following panels:

1. Decentralization Reforms: Ingredients of Success, Challenges, and Opportunities

2. Transparent and Accountable Local Governance: Major Principles, Success Stories, and Lessons Learned

3. Digitalization in Municipalities: International Tendencies, Best Practices, and Limitations

4. Models of Service Delivery at the Subnational Level  

The Forum is organized by the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), in partnership with the Open Government Partnership (OGP), and supported by a grant from Luminate and USAID Local Governance Program.
