The Programs Director of IDFI, Levan Avalishvili conducted an open lecture on Freedom of Information

On November 22, the Programs Director of the Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) - Levan Avalishvili, conducted a lecture on freedom of information for the participants of the bachelor’s group within the framework of the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption. 

 

Levani spoke to the participants of the course about the importance of public information, the legal framework, and the mechanisms for requesting public information established in Georgia. The lecture was held in an interactive mode, during which practical examples of requesting public information were discussed. During the lecture, Levan actively discussed with the students what kind of challenges the freedom of information might face in Georgia.

 

The Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) started implementing the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption in 2019, in cooperation with Ilia State University.

For three years, the program was financially supported by the Open Society Foundations within the framework of the project "Building Sustainable Human Capacity in Fighting Corruption”. Currently, the program is financially supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) within the framework of Organizational Support.
