On December 19, 2021 the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) organized the training for the participants of the Educational Certification Program in Fighting Corruption on „Governance of Anti-Corruption Policy in Private Sector “. The training was led by the Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Anti-money Laundering and Compliance of the Bank of Georgia – Ms. Tamar Goderdzishvili.

The purpose of the meeting was to raise the awareness of the participants of the Educational Certification Program with the role and importance of the private sector in the fight against corruption. At the same time, the trainer shared information about best practices and examples of risk management in a private legal entity.

During the training, participants discussed the reasons for fighting the corruption, the role of compliance in the fight against corruption, and the best practices for risk management in compliance. Participants defined the correlation of the risk of corruption with corporate governance, with the principle of good faith and ethical norms. At the same time, one of the issues discussed during the training was the existing international standards and best practices for the private sector in terms of fighting corruption.

Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) started the implementation of the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption from 2019 in cooperation with Ilia State University. The program is financially supported by the Open Society Foundations (OSF) in the framework of the project “Building Sustainable Human Capacity in Fighting Corruption”.
