On November 22, 2021 staff members of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), Teona Turashvili and Nino Gozalishvili held an online discussion with students. The participants were presented with the findings of the study conducted on the issues of digital security and rights.

The participants of the meeting were introduced to the main challenges in Georgia in terms of digital and cyber security. Moreover, they had a chance to first-hand listen to the assessment of civil society on the recently adopted strategy and information law in this area. At the same time, the discussion focused on the importance of digital literacy and the main needs in this area.

As for the subject of Online Information Manipulation, the attendees discussed the key challenges and areas of research that are important to develop in the Georgian context. The discussion also focused on the review of regulations in the international context that are developed against the manipulation of information in the online space. 

The meeting ended with a discussion during which the students talked about their interests in cyber security and information manipulation directions. The meeting participants were the students of the Disinformation and Propaganda Research Program. Notably, under the Disinformation and Propaganda Research Program, students will be able to complete a full academic course in cyber security in the upcoming semester.
