On October 2, 2023, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) hosted representatives of the Centre for Russian, Caucasian and Central European Studies (CERCEC) of the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the academic field who were on a research visit to Georgia and the head of the Memory and Disinformation Studies Direction of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), Anton Vatcharadze.
The main topic of the meeting was about the openness of archives and state policy in this regard. The parties talked about Soviet repressions, crimes, dissidents, recent wars in the Caucasus, migration processes related to the war in Ukraine and many other research opportunities.
The Centre for Russian, Caucasian and Central European Studies (CERCEC) is a research organization founded in the 1960s by the famous Orientalist and Sovietologist Alexander Bennigsen at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, which brings together geographers, historians, sociologists and political scientists.
The parties expressed their willingness to cooperate in the future.
