Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) has received public information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia about the total sum of the fines imposed by the Patrol Police Department for administrative offences to be paid to the state budget in the first 6 months of 2013 (January – June). As it becomes clear, the total amount of fines imposed on citizens by the Patrol Police Department in the given period has amounted to 31 106 828 GEL. According to the similar information for 2011 and 2012, received by IDFI in August 2012, the sum of fines was as follows: 21 134 952 GEL in the first 6 months of 2011, 18 276 641 GEL in the first 6 months of 2012.
As it becomes clear from the official data received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the amount of fines imposed by the Patrol Police during the first 6 months of 2013 is increased by 9 971 876 GEL (47,2%) as compared to the similar period in 2011, and by 12 830 187 GEL (70%) as compared to the similar period in 2012.
