Independent Anti-Corruption Agency – Georgia and International Standards

The purpose of this policy document is to demonstrate the necessity of establishing Independent Anti-Corruption Agency for eradication of the shortfalls revealed in the existing system of fighting against corruption in Georgia. „Transparency International – Georgia” raised this issue in 2014. However, the Government of Georgia took different path and conferred the function to fight against corruption to the State Security Service (SSS). The problem analysis given in the document reveals the ineffectiveness of this decision.

Public Holidays in Europe and Georgia

A draft law prepared by the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory proposes reducing the number of public holidays in Ukraine from 11 to 9. The draft law proposes altogether cancelling public celebration of May 1-2, substituting  March 8 with March 9 (Shevchenko Day),  May 9 with May 8 (day of memory and reconciliation), and the first Monday afterPentecost with the day of the family in September.

Corruption Risks of the New Amendments Related to the National Bank of Georgia

The Parliament of Georgia discusses amendments to the law on Conflict of Interest and Corruption in Public Service. The draft law was elaborated by the National Bank and initiated by the government of Georgia. The draft law is already approved by the Legal Issues and Budget and Finance Committees.
