Field Meeting of the Permanent Parliamentary Council on Open and Transparent Governance

The field meeting of the Permanent Parliamentary Council on Open and Transparent Governance (Council) and the Consultative Group under the Council was held at “Crowne Plaza Hotel”, Borjomi. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues related to parliamentary openness and to plan future steps.

Parliament Chairperson Approved the New Composition of the Permanent Parliamentary Council on Open and Transparent Governance

New Members of the Council are: Irina Pruidze (as the Chairman) – from “Georgian Dream”, Irakli Kobakhidze-“Georgian Dream”, Tamar Chugoshvili-“Georgian Dream”, Kakha Kuchava-“Georgian Dream”, Guguli Magradze-“Georgian Dream”, Giorgi Tugushi-“European Georgia-for Better Future”, Otar Kakhidze-“European Georgia-for Better Future” and Emzar Kvitsiani-“Georgian Patriots”.

The Georgian Parliament took the commitment to make its website accessible to people with disabilities within the framework of the Open Parliament Action Plan 2015-2016.

OGP - Global Summits and Georgia's Achievements

On May 4, 2016, Georgia was elected co-chair of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) after serving as a member of the OGP Steering Committee since August 2013. As the co-chair, starting October 1, Georgia will head the Steering Committee together with its current chair – France. The following year, Georgia will itself take over as the OGP chair country and take an active part in developing OGP’s main directions and strategies.

Tbilisi Government Adopted Tbilisi Action Plan 2017 Within the Framework of “Open Government Partnership”

On November 16, 2017, the Government of Tbilisi adopted Tbilisi OGP Action Plan 2017. In May 2016 the working group for development, promotion and monitoring of implementation of the Action Plan within the framework of “Open Government Partnership” was created. The working group is composed of representatives from various NGOs and international programs, including: OSGF, IDFI, “Transparency International Georgia, USAID Program on “Good Governance Initiative in Georgia” and “Delegation of the European Union to Georgia” program.

Review of Commitments Undertaken by the Government of Georgia in its 2016-2017 Open Government Action Plan

Georgia was elected as co-chair of OGP for a 2 year term, which includes servings as the OGP chair country for a period of one year starting October 1, 2017, means that Georgia must fulfill all of its commitments and serve as an example for other member states.

IDFI at Open Government Partnership Asia-Pacific Regional Dialogues

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) Regional Dialogue provides an important opportunity for reformers to come together on annual basis to exchange open government experiences, and share best practices and latest news with a special focus on the Asia-Pacific region. IDFI Director Giorgi Kldiashvili participated at 2016 Dialogue hosted by the Asian Development Bank at their headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

IDFI Director at World e-Parliament Conference 2016

IDFI Director Giorgi Kldiashvili took part in the World e-Parliament Conference 2016 held in Valparaiso, at the Parliament of Chile (28-30 June). The World e-Parliament Conference is the biennial forum of the parliamentary community on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT).

IDFI - GPSA Global Partners Forum

2016 Global Partners Forum held on May 19-24 (in Washington) covered almost 75 countries, as there were representatives from different local or international NGOs, governments, private sector or academics. Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) was presented in the framework of Open Government Partnership by Saba Buadze. Buadze delivered his remarks and shared the experience of IDFI on the process of co-creation in the Open Government Partnership.

The Parliament and Civil Society Discuss MP Code of Ethics

On May 20-21, the Georgian Parliament’s Permanent Council on Open and Transparent Governance and its Civil Society Consultative Group held a meeting discussing the MP Code of Ethics. Improving the Code of Ethics is one of the commitments (4.4.) in the Open Parliament Georgia 2015-2016 Action Plan.
