The Council of Europe, in the framework of the Council of Europe 2020-2023 Action Plan for Georgia, is implementing the project "Strengthening participatory democracy and human rights at local level in Georgia". The main goal of the project is to strengthen citizen involvement and human rights protection at the local level.

Overview of the implementation by Georgia of the recommendations on fight against money laundering and terrorism financing

According to 2020 Moneyval Evaluation Report of Georgia, the country has fully complied with the Financial Action Task Force recommendations regarding money laundering offenses, secret legislation on financial institutions, correspondent bank, anonymity and confidentiality, responsibilities of investigative and law enforcement agencies, as well as extradition.

On April 6, the Supreme Council (SCA) of Ajara presented the citizen engagementweb-platform – chaerte.sca.ge. The web platform is developed based on the commitments of the Open Governance Action Plan 2020-2021 of SCA and integrates several digital services.

Training for Civic Activists and Data Journalists

On April 1-3, 2022, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) conducted a two-day training on effective oversight and data extraction methods. The training was attended by journalists and civil activists from different regions of Georgia - a total of 16 participants.

Official Communication Regarding the Exports of Dairy Products to Russia

On March 6, 2022, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported that the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) had allowed 15 Georgian companies to supply milk and dairy products to Russia.

2022 Bertelsmann Transformation Index

Bertelsmann Transformation Index (BTI) regularly evaluates countries since 2004. The index analyzes and evaluates whether and how developing countries and countries in transition are steering social change toward democracy and a market economy (reports are published once in two years).

Kosovo Joins the Transparent Public Procurement Rating

In March 2022, Kosovo joined the Transparent Public Procurement Rating as the 42nd country to be assessed within the framework of IDFI’s international initiative. The assessment was conducted by Lëvizja FOL and independent expert Gresa Smolica.
