Extent of SDGs Integration in the National Public Policy System of Georgia

Nationalizing all 17 Sustainable Development Goals and relevant targets constitute a declared policy of the Government of Georgia. The given analysis aims at ascertaining to what extent existing national policy documents contain obligations in line with SDG indicators. The evaluation will assist the GoG to identify challenges and take relevant steps in regards to nationalizing specific SDGs.

Parliament of Georgia Discussed IDFI’s Legislative Proposal on Archival Openness

On 30 August 2019, at the session of the Legal Issues Committee, the Parliament of Georgia discussed the legislative proposal on the amendments in the laws on the National Archival Fund and the National Archives and on the Personal Data Protection presented by the Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Institute for Development of Freedom of Information, Giorgi Kldiashvili (N1-7153/19; 10.04.2019).

IDFI submitted its opinion to the Parliament regarding the draft law on “Personal Data Protection” initiated on 22 May 2019. The opinion of IDFI covers the following important issues: grounds for processing personal data; grounds for processing special categories of personal data; termination of processing of personal data, erasure and destruction of data;  restriction of processing of data.

Development of the New Anti-corruption Strategy and Action Plan 2019-2020 has been Faulty

On 16 July, 2019, Interagency Anticorruption Council of Georgia on its 17th meeting discussed the draft Anticorruption Strategy and Action Plan for 2019-2020. In the second half of August, 2019, the strategic anticorruption documents have not yet been adopted by the Government.
