Domestic Violence Statistics in Georgia

Domestic Violence Statistics in Georgia: The largest number of domestic violence cases were documented in Tbilisi, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi and Kakheti; Beginning with 2015, the number of domestic violence cases was increasing by 50%, which indicates a sharp increase in the number of willing complaints; and indicator of the number of cases closed decreased sharply in 2016 when compared to previous years.

IDFI visualization on the Statistics of Internally Displaced People by Income: in Georgia, a total of 277,403 internally displaced persons are registered; Out of the 277,403 IDPs registered in Georgia, only 3.4% (9,474 persons) have a monthly income that exceeds GEL 1,250.

Statistics on Deprivation and Termination of Status for Internally Displaced Persons

IDFI's study on internally displaces persons revealed that: A total of 277,403 internally displaced persons are registered in Georgia; in 2014-2017, 1,232 persons were deprived of the IDP status. The most lost their status in 2015 – 625;  in 2014-2017, a total of 26,752 persons lost the status of IDPs. This was mostly due to the lack of compulsory registration in 2014; and in the following years, 5,567 persons were restored their status.

Forest Fire Statistics: 2013-2017

In the territories under the purview of the LEPL National Forest Agency 270 forest fires took place in the last few years. The greatest number of forest fires took place in 2015. Compared to previous years, 2017 saw fires spread to 7 times as much area. In the last five years, forest fires spread to a total of 2,558.35 hectares area.

Winners of the Youth Contest – Your Idea for Open Parliament have been revealed. Ideas submitted by Rusudan Mgeladze, Kalenike Uridia and Shalva Dekanozishvili were approved by the Permanent Council on Open and Transparent Governance and will be reviewed during elaboration process of the third Open Parliament Action Plan for the years of 2018-2019.

Remittances in Georgia

One of the more important sources of foreign currency inflow to Georgia is the funds sent to their native country by emigrants. The largest diaspora of Georgians is present in the Russian Federation, therefore the largest share of remittances is made from Russia. Since 2012, the share of remittances from the Russian Federation significantly decreases annually and by 2017 decreased to 33%.

Analysis of Drug-Related Criminal Statistics – Practice and Declared Goals Do Not Match

The discussion of the liberalization of the existing policy towards drug users in Georgia has been ongoing for several years now. In 2017, this process entered an active phase when a draft law was introduced to the Parliament of Georgia. The draft law envisions the liberalization of drug policy and the development of rehabilitation programs for drug users.
