In the period of 2010-2017, 3,491 instances of violations of hunting regulations were discovered, among these 45 had signs of criminal offences.

Official Statistics on Refusals to Entry for Foreign Citizens at the Georgian Border

Between 2014 and September 30 of 2017, foreign citizens were refused entry at the Georgian state border a total of 27,400 times

Statistics of Held Plays and Spectators of Theaters

More than half of the theaters are located in Tbilisi; There is a total of 49 theaters in the country; Across the country, the number of plays held in all theaters was increasing annually, with the exception of 2016; In 2015-2016, the greatest number of plays, following Tbilisi, was held in the region of Imereti; The number of spectators at the plays was increasing annually; In the last few years, the majority of spectators (63-65%) attended plays in Tbilisi.

Suicide Statistics: 2014-2017

In 2014-2017, a total of 1,612 persons committed suicide; Within the last four years, 4.3 times as many men committed suicide as compared to women; Compared to previous years, in 2017 cases of suicide decreased by about 100; The number of suicides was higher than the number of attempted suicides; The greatest number of scuicides was reported in Tbilisi, while the greatest number of attempted suicides was reported in Samegrelo.

Illegal Cutting of Timber

In the period of 2015-2017, the damage done to the environment due to illegal cutting of timber was evaluated at 8 million GEL, while the related fines amounted to 2,8 million GEL.   The largest number of instances of illegal cutting of timber have been observed in the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.

IDFI Presented the Research on Access to Open Data in Georgia and Visegrad Countries

The main challenge facing access to open data in Georgia is the absence of relevant legislative framework and standards. Due to this problem, the list of data that made available by public institutions in an open and reusable format is low. Even though Georgia does have a state open data portal, public institutions are not obligated to publish their data on this website.

Access to Open Data in Georgia and Visegrad Countries

The research reviews the legislative framework of open data in Georgia and in four central European countries – Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Together with legislative frameworks, the document also analysis practices of access to open data, main open data platforms run in these countries and the frequency of open data utilization by local activists and private sector representatives on every-day basis. Recommendations for each country are also presented.

Birth Rates in Georgia

In the last 10 years, 2017 marked the lowest birth rate indicator. Deterioration of the birth rate is due to a sharp decline in the births of first and second children. The state programmes put into motion after 2014 have failed to properly address the demographic challenges facing the country.

Domestic Violence Statistics in Georgia

Domestic Violence Statistics in Georgia: The largest number of domestic violence cases were documented in Tbilisi, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi and Kakheti; Beginning with 2015, the number of domestic violence cases was increasing by 50%, which indicates a sharp increase in the number of willing complaints; and indicator of the number of cases closed decreased sharply in 2016 when compared to previous years.
