On March 15-16, 2016, the director of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) Levan Avalishvili and its analyst Tamar Iakobidze conducted a public policy and freedom of information training within the framework of the project 50 Public Servants of the Training Center of Justice.
Since December 2012 non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) has been involved in support and advocacy process of transition from analog to digital broadcasting in Georgia.
The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), in partnership with the University of Bremen and with the financial support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany implemented the project “Strategic Plan Georgia 2020 – Strengthening Public Involvement” between July 10, 2015 and February 10, 2016. The goal of the project was to raise the awareness among civil society groups and to strengthen the understanding of Georgia’s socio-economic development strategy “Georgia 2020”, to identify problems and to formulate relevant recommendations, existing challenges and the implementation process of the strategy.
IDFI presents its brief overview of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy. The analysis discuss such crucial topics of fight against corruption in civil service as: civil service recruitment, whistleblower protection, asset declarations of high-ranking officials, remuneration in civil service and public procurement.
IDFI calls on the prosecutor’s office to proactively publish information of high public interest requested by us on its website. Specifically, information on how many statements/complaints were filed to the prosecutor's office from October 1, 2012, to January 31, 2015, how many of them were related to violations committed by public servants, and what action was taken in response.
The Georgian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP CSF) held its 7th General Assembly on February 29, 2016, with the purpose of summarizing the platform’s one year performance, and electing its chairman and working group coordinators. The assembly was attended by 130 representatives from 86 member organizations.
