On February 26, 2020, the first case of the novel coronavirus was confirmed in Georgia, while on March 21, the state of emergency, that lasted until May 22, was declared. In this period, the coronavirus related procurements were primarily conducted with simplified procedures.
In 2020 Georgia was mentioned in the rankings of several international organizations. Most of them indicate that corruption situation in the country is worsening with high-level corruption being mentioned as one of the causes.
The International Anti-Corruption Day is celebrated on December 9. This day is important for raising awareness about the challenges in terms of corruption and planning effective measures to eliminate the existing gaps.
On October 21, 2020, IDFI conducted an online training on open data management and publication issues for the staff of Gori, Lagodekhi, Senaki, Telavi and Zugdidi City Halls and Municipal Councils.
Access to open government data is vital for the improvement of public service delivery and citizen participation in the decision-making process. Open data facilitates the development of civil monitoring mechanisms, improves public well-being, and effective use of state resources.
As 2019-2020 Public Administration Reform (PAR) Action Plan and the Roadmap are expiring, the Government Administration has started working on elaboration of the new PAR Strategy and Action Plan.
Trace International released new indicators about the risk of corruption in business on November 19th. The organization assessed the risk of business corruption in 194 countries. They used a 100-point system where 100 points indicates a high and 0 points - low risk of corruption.
