On February 12th 2015, Thursday at Tbilisi Marriott Hotel the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) delivered presentation of the report “Access to Public Information in Georgia 2014” and named the most transparent and closed public institutions revealed within the framework of the project. Representatives of Public Institutions, Media and Civil Society Organizations attended the event.
On February 12th 2015, Thursday, 11:00 AM at Tbilisi Marriott Hotel Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) will name most transparent and closed public institutions revealed within the framework of the project.
The results of the report cover the period between October 2013 and December 2014. Within the framework of the project a total of 7 878 FOI requests have been sent to 308 public institutions during the given period.
Partner organization of IDFI Freedom of Information Foundation (Saint Petersburg) has been subject to systematic pressure from the government of Russia in the recent period. The Foundation was established in 2004 and was one of the first partners of IDFI.
On November 5th, 2014 IDFI requested various public information from Tbilisi City Hall. IDFI welcomes the fact that the City Hall replied to all the requests.
On December 24th 2014 Tbilisi City Court accepted the appeal of IDFI against the Ministry of Internal Affairs. As a result the Ministry was found responsible to provide the institute with complete information on salary supplements and bonuses received by the Minister, Deputy Minister and Department Chairmen during the year of 2013. The information is to be provided separately for each month indicating names and surnames of the officials.
