Tbilisi State University, University of Tartu and The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) are glad to announce international Summer School, financed by the Government of Estonia: ENPI beyond 2013 in South Caucasus region: challenges in good governance.
With the Decree of the Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili regulation of salary supplements of the head and other officials of the Chancellery has been defined.
Various public informations received from local authorities of Guria are now accessible on opendata.ge. Provided information concerns various expenses of the local authorities, the list of vehicles on balance and replaced ones 2013 audit acts (internal, external, state and non-state) and the list of actions carried out for improving breaches and faults revealed by controlling agencies; diplomas of higher education of heads and deputy heads of Municipal boards and Municipal councils as well as electronic business-related correspondence.
In March, 2014 IDFI published analysis of disclosing the statistical data on surveillance on example of various public institutions. In the mentioned article we noted that in response to the request submitted by IDFI in February, concerning various statistical data on surveillance conducted in 2012-2014.

In July 2013, IDFI suggested the Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development of Georgia a strategy of digital switchover of the regional and local broadcasters.
The civil service recruitment procedures have significantly improved after the adoption of the relevant decree by the Government of Georgia on the 20th of July this year. Overall the legal guarantees of the recruitment process being conducted in an objective and impartial way has been strengthened by the legislation. Nevertheless in the process of comparing Georgian legislation with international practices (the UK and Estonia) it was found that the legislation regulating civil service recruitment issues in Georgia needs further improvements, hence our recommendations are as follows.
Today the EU-Georgia Association Agreement was signed. The negotiations between the parties on the text of the agreement had been under way for three years. Nevertheless, the agreement will obviously not come into force straight after the signature
In April 2014 amendments were made to the legislation regulating the whistle blower protection issues in Georgia. Number of the recommendations that IDFI had been advocating for already in February this year were taken into consideration. Nevertheless many important topics are still left out of the legislation.
One of the major aims of the research was displaying whether the public institutions managed to maintain the positive tendencies in terms of access to information after the October 1, 2012 parliamentary elections.
